As event professionals, we are all busy making our clients’ every wish come true and creating unforgettable experiences for our event attendees. As the New Year approaches it is a time for us to reflect on what we have achieved this past year. So many creative ideas, hours put into planning and executing flawless functions, and attention to every little detail — having it all and more is what our event industry is about. It is exciting for Calgary and Edmonton to now each have awards programs to celebrate our industry and to recognize hard working professionals; both planners and suppliers.
With 17 categories the awards have been designed to capture a wide spectrum of the talent and hard work in our industry. The highly anticipated programs are being held in the New Year with the Calgary Event Awards on March 2 and Edmonton Event Awards on March 9. The inaugural Edmonton awards were launched in 2016 with 350 attendees enjoying a night full of sparkle (and I am not just talking about the cotton candy infused prosecco!), amazing food and entertainment. For so many of the professionals it was a night to truly enjoy without worrying about logistics, low ice, or blown fuses.But most importantly a spirit of great achievement and excellence to keep them reaching above and beyond for the year to come! —Nela Kovacovic
